PALATKA MUNICIPAL AIRPORT TO HOST 9TH ANNUAL CLASSIC AIRPLANE AND CAR SHOW ON SATURDAY, 1/26/19, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The City of Palatka and Palatka Municipal Airport Advisory Board will host the 9th Annual “Palatka Classic Fly-In & Car Show,” on Saturday, January 26, 2018,
from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 P.M. The event will be held at Palatka Municipal Airport located at 4015 Reid Street/US Hwy 100. The rain-out date is Saturday February
9 th . The event offers a unique opportunity for the general public to walk out onto the airfield and get an up-close and personal experience with aircraft as they
arrive, taxi in and are escorted to parking and put on static display for the day. According to Airport Manager John Youell it is an “interesting environment,
something you will not experience at other air shows where the crowd is segregated from the aircraft.” In addition to show quality aircraft the car show
has grown significantly in recent years and offers automobile enthusiasts an entertaining experience. In addition to experiencing classic and modern-day airplanes and automobiles,
visitors can purchase helicopter and airplane rides including flights in nostalgic “open cockpit” biplanes. Classic airplanes will be conducting fly-over’s in
formation flight throughout the day. There will be plenty of merchant and educational displays including skydiving, remote controlled aircraft, and robot and
drone demonstrations. A BBQ lunch will be served beginning at 11:00 a.m. for the cost of a donation. The first Airport Fly-In was held in 2010, and attracted approximately 700
spectators and 50 airplanes. This year, organizers anticipate a crowd of more than 5,000 spectators and 200 airplanes from all over the NE Florida area and
beyond. Should the event be “weathered out,” it will be postponed until Saturday, Feb. 9th. For more information please call Palatka Municipal Airport staff at (386) 329-0148.
THIS EVENT IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. PETS ARE PROHIBITED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SERVICE ANIMALS.
