An event every week that begins at 12:00 am on Friday, repeating until November 20, 2020
Last Christmas we received an overwhelming amount of Holiday Bags for our Putnam Heroes and we
thank you for your outpouring of love and support. Americans love to support our heroes especially at
this most important time of the year. This year, the face of our world has changed somewhat so we will
be supporting operation Christmas Cards for our Deployed Troops Overseas!
Thousands of cards came from our school children from all over the nation last year. one child wrote,
“My mommy is in the Army. If you see her over there, please give her this card and tell her I love her.”
Johnson-Overturf Funeral Homes is sponsoring this effort along with 91.3 HOPE FM. We are now asking
and requesting that anyone who would like to send in cards, preferable hand-made, simply deliver them
to 91.3 HOPE FM, 3419 St Johns Ave., Palatka, Florida by no later than November 20th to allow us
enough time to get them vetted and sent to units overseas.
THE SECURITY AND SAFETY OF OUR TROOPS IS OUR UTMOST CONCERN. LET’S HAVE A SAFE AND MERRY
Please send the card only – no envelopes, keep the envelopes for your personal use.
If you are making Christmas cards, do NOT use glitter or any other product that could come
loose when we open the box or envelope in which you will be mailing us your cards.
Please do NOT send any homemade cookies or other homemade baked goods, unfortunately
that is the world in which we live.
Please refrain from all hate-filled messages or rhetoric. Ensure your messages are filled with
respect, compassion and love for our military.
Please submit your cards on or before November 20th. – so please be mindful of the deadline.
Personal messages of peace and good-will as well as ‘Thank You For Your Service’ can be
written in the cards.
This is a wonderful opportunity for teachers to do a class project with a meaning. Teachers, I am willing
to come and speak to your students about deployments, overseas duty and being away from home on
the holidays. Simply call me at 386-538-6376, or contact Ricky@whif.org.
