Professional Bull Riders elite Unleash The Beast event in Jacksonville

May 22 @ 8:00 am - May 23 @ 5:00 pm

For the first time in four years, PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) elite Unleash The Beast will return to Jacksonville, Florida, welcoming fans to VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena May 22-23 for the PBR Bad Boy Mowers Invitational, presented by Union Home Mortgage.

Brining the edge-of-the-seat action one can only experience at a PBR event showcasing America’s Original Extreme Sport, the event will feature the Top 40 bull riders in the world squaring off in epic 8-second confrontations all night long against some of the rankest bulls on the planet, often 10-times their size. PBR will buck back into Florida, after the state welcomed the league for the first three events of the new season. Stopping in the likes of Ocala, Arcadia and Okeechobee, the Sunshine State bore witness to the first outs of 2021 which has since bred a ferocious World Championship race.

Among the many accomplished western sports athletes anticipated to compete in Jacksonville are five World Champions who hold a collective eight gold buckles: Jose Vitor Leme (2020), Jess Lockwood (2019, 2017), Kaique Pacheco (2018); Cooper Davis (2016); and Silvano Alves (2014, 2012, 2011).

Professional Bull Riding’s return to Jacksonville comes amidst an already feverish battle for the 2021 PBR World Championship, with the world’s Top 5 separated by a slim 289.67 points. The top contenders for this year’s gold buckle include:

  • No. 1 Jose Vitor Leme: Despite battling injury at the start of the season, reigning World Champion Leme’s seemingly unstoppable form has been on full display since his return. Attempting to become just the second back-to-back World Champion in league history, Leme is one of only two riders to have won multiple events to date in 2021, and leads the league in round wins (7) and 90-point rides (10). Magnifying his accomplishments, now 24-year-old Leme, a former semi-professional soccer player, didn’t begin to pursue a career in westerns sports until age 18. Will the phenom continue to dominate in Jacksonville, and inch closer to league history?
  • No. 2 Kaique Pacheco (-27.5 points): Known as the “Ice Man,” Pacheco has been a force in 2021, winning a league-best four Unleash The Beast tour stops to hold the world No. 1 rank for four weeks. While he surrendered the top rank following the most recent event in Omaha, Nebraska, a flawless finish in Jacksonville could allow Pacheco to reclaim the top standing in the race for the year’s gold buckle.
  • No. 3 Cooper Davis (-123 points): As one of the league’s most poised cowboys, 2016 PBR World Champion Davis is on pace to earn his second World Championship in 2021. Capturing his first premier series event win at the most recent tour stop in Nebraska, Davis catapulted within the Top 3, while also posting his fifth 90-point ride of the season. Leading the world for five weeks at the start of the season, will Davis reclaim the No. 1 position in Jacksonville?

The PBR premier series event in Jacksonville will abide by all protocols set forth by ASM Global’s industry-leading VenueShield program, along with City and State guidelines and the league’s own Be Cowboy Safe plan. Those fan safety protocols can be found here.
