Local and national resources to help you prepare for hurricane season.

Basic hurricane preparation items to have on hand to last at least seven days:

  • 1 gallon of water per family member per day

  • Non-perishable food items 

  • manual can opener

  • medications for you and pets 

  • flashlights and batteries

  • battery operated radio

  • cash

  • first aid supplies 

  • copies of all your critical information in case you have to evacuate.

  • be sure to secure loose items around your property. 

  • in the event of a power outage, if you plan to use a generator make sure you have fresh gas, put it somewhere with ventilation - not inside the home or garage. 

  • inform neighbors or friends as well as out of state family members of your plan if you will be evacuating so someone can reach you. 

  • follow your county's emergency management websites and social media pages for updates.
