From the Ashes: International Day of Prayer

The Voice of the Martyrs is a nonprofit, interdenominational missions organization that serves persecuted Christians around the world. Every year, Christians are encouraged to set aside at least one day to pray for those being persecuted for their faith in Jesus Christ. The International Day of Prayer (IDOP) for Persecuted Christians is Sunday November 6.

Tim Gill and his wife Darcie are long-time friends of our radio ministry. The local observances for the IDOP began here the same year we went on the air, 1996. Tim shares about the prayer focus for believers around the world, and about how our station helped bring churches and the community together to learn more about what it means to be persecuted for our faith in Jesus Christ.

Rebecca is one of those persecuted Christians that Voice of the Martyrs helps. The IDOP short feature film, Rebecca: Nigeria, tells the story of a woman who watched helplessly as militants burned her home and killed her family. Later, in the charred rubble of her home, she found a Bible she and her husband had received on their wedding day.

"I still use that Bible," Rebecca says. "It reminds me of God's faithfulness.

Below, you can see Rebecca's incredible testimony of faith and perseverance and listen to my conversation with Tim.
