Hide it in Your Heart

Do you remember how old you were when you received your first Bible? I was 17 and walking into the O’Dome in Gainesville for my high school graduation. The Gideons were there, handing out these little pocket Bibles to each of us. To be honest, it meant nothing to me, but I knew there must be something about it that made it special. Without ever opening it, I tossed it in the glove box in my car thinking of it as nothing more than a good luck charm.

About a year and a half later a friend invited me to a Bible study. I had no clue what they were talking about, but they gave me a Bible of my own (a bigger, easier to read version!) After a few months, hearing them read from and talk about the Bible, I wanted to know the Lord for myself. That’s when the words truly came alive to me.

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. -Hebrews 4:12

God’s Word—the Bible—is incredibly important to our growth as followers of Christ. That’s why we give you a verse of hope each day on the air, online, and even via text message. I challenge you to join us each day in reading, studying, memorizing, and living it!

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. -Psalm 119:11
