We have a gadget at the station that uses a mobile app to operate, which is so handy... when it works. It's a great frustration when it doesn't. The installer gave me a tech support number to call if we needed help... which I did. When I dialed the number I was greeted with this: "If you're over 50 press one, if not, press two."
So many thoughts raced through my mind at that moment. Primarily, "Oh great. They are so judgmental! Just because I'm over 50, they think I'm going to need extra help understanding their techie gizmo! That's just not right! This is age discrimination! I can operate a radio station, I think I could understand your support person!"
Well, I relented and pressed one. Someone comes on the line and starts her spiel about life alert buttons. That's when it dawned on me: this was the wrong number. But in only a few seconds I was all worked up, offended, and frustrated over what turned out to be nothing more than a wrong number.
I don't know what may come up to try and steal your peace and joy today, but let's remember what Jesus told us:
You can have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. -John 16:33
