Why Comedy?
A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. Proverbs 17:22
Over the years our station has hosted numerous comedy events. Some might think a comedy show doesn’t have a place in the church, but I’d definitely argue the opposite!
In fact, at the age of 19, I was invited to go with friends to a church to hear a guest speaker. I was reluctant at first but they told me it was a comedian and promised it would be fun. So I went. And I laughed! At the end of his presentation he asked if anyone wanted to know more about Jesus and that’s when I found myself standing at an altar making the best decision of my life.
I know from experience that people will come to a comedy event that wouldn’t ordinarily accept an invitation to a church service. This is where we have the chance to share our faith with friends and family by sharing a time of laughter.
