A Sermon In Shoes

Being a sermon in shoes means that your life itself preaches a message, even without words. People may never step foot in a church or open a Bible, but they see your faith in how you live. Your choices, kindness, integrity, and the way you treat others become a living testimony of Christ’s love.

Walking the Walk—being a sermon in shoes means that faith isn’t just about what we say but about what we do:

  • Showing forgiveness when others expect revenge. "Don’t say, “I will get even for this wrong.” Wait for the Lord to handle the matter." Proverbs 20:22

  • Choosing honesty when a lie would be easier. "The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth." Proverbs 12:22

  • Serving others quietly without seeking credit. "Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too." Philippians 2:3-4

  • Living with joy and hope even in trials. "...when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing." James 1:2-4

People are watching. Some may never read Scripture, but they’re reading your life.

It gives credibility to your words. A lived-out faith backs up what you believe. It draws others to Christ.

Ask yourself this—If someone only watched my actions, what would they learn about Christ? Am I walking in a way that points to Him, or to myself?

A “sermon in shoes” is a Christian whose life walks the talk.
