While on vacation, our hotel had a very nice area with breakfast and refreshments. On the morning we were to take the train I made sure to grab an extra drink for the road. Since I was feeling a little fancy…I chose sparkling water. Got on the train, took it out of my backpack and opened it up (not thinking it’s carbonated, and it had been jostling around in my bag!) In just a fraction of a second that little bottle hosed me down! Since I don’t drink sodas very often, apparently I forgot one of the basic rules: don’t shake it!!
It made me wonder how often I just go about my day not even thinking about what I’m doing. Maybe it’s just me, but I do tend to need some reminders!
In our spiritual lives we need to refocus our minds. That’s why the Lord tells us what to think about in Philippians 4:8, whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellence, things worthy of praise.
I’ve heard it said that BIBLE stands for Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. Sure, it tells us how to get to heaven after this life is over. But it also gives us everything we need to live this life. 2 Peter 1:3.
I needed that time away to come back refreshed and reminded of the most basic things: put God first and everything else will fall into place!
I didn’t get a picture of me soaking wet that day on the train, but thankfully I held my composure at a fancy afternoon tea!
