The GRANDNESS of Grandparenting

It says it right there in the name: GRAND.
Proverbs 17:6
“Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.”
There is something uniquely beautiful about this season of life. My husband and I started our family very early, and while we didn’t fully understand then how that decision would shape our future, we’re seeing the gift of it now. We are barely in our 50s and are already blessed with six grandchildren. And let me tell you, life is loud, busy, joyful, and wonderfully full.
Recently, we decided to start a new tradition. Once a month, all the grands come over for the night. Pajamas, snacks, giggles, bedtime stories - I’ll follow up in six months to let you know if this is still a thing…Hehe.
The grandness of grandparenting doesn’t fade with time. No matter your age, or the age of your grandchildren, your role is still GRAND. Whether you’re chasing toddlers, cheering from the sidelines at ball games, sending encouraging texts to teenagers, or praying daily for grown grandchildren finding their way in the world, your influence remains powerful. Grand doesn’t mean perfect or energetic; it means intentional, faithful, and present. It means showing up with wisdom earned through years of walking with God. It means loving big, praying bold, and pointing them to the One who holds every generation in His hands.
If you have wisdom to share, a tradition that has been passed down, or a simple way you’re intentionally loving your grandchildren, or honoring your grandparents, we’d love to hear from you. Please share your thoughts in the comments below.)
As Scripture reminds us, “One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts” (Psalm 145:4).
