New Music Friday: "Father, Let It Be"

Many of us know God as a far distant judge who calls the shots and often doesn’t make life fair. We rarely look up because we think if anyone is up there they don’t want anything to do with us and if they did, we would never measure up to their idea of being worthy of anything good.
Hebrews 4: 14-16 (AMP) says, “ Inasmuch then as we [believers] have a great High Priest who has [already ascended and] passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith and cling tenaciously to our absolute trust in Him as Savior]. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize and understand our weaknesses and temptations, but One who has been tempted [knowing exactly how it feels to be human] in every respect as we are, yet without [committing any] sin. 16 Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment].

The author David Frey, sings to us about wrestling with the realities of life as he cries out to a God who felt what we feel and experienced what we experience.
The anthem of the chorus says,
“Help me to believe Jesus tell me stories of times you felt like me…”
The God of the bible, the God that David is describing is a God who calls us by name. A God who knows us and tells us not to fear because he is with us. We can go to Isaiah 43 and see this God for ourselves as he pursued the heart of the nation of Israel even when they trusted in themselves, trusted in lesser gods and were openly rebellious to him.
Isaiah 43:1 says, “But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” and verse 7 says, "everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
There are many examples in the Bible of God going the extra mile with us, but one of our favorites here at Hope FM is Matthew chapter 6, where Jesus describes God's heart toward us in the picture of how He provides for the birds of the air, and yet we are more valuable to Him than any bird.

"that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints (God’s people), and [so that you will begin to know] what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power is in us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength..." (Ephesians 1:18-19).
