New Music Friday: Thank God by Leanna Crawford

Some songs you hear. Others you experience.
Leanna Crawford’s new song, “Thank God,” is one of those songs for me. As I listened, the lyrics brought me back to difficult seasons I had tucked away—seasons I honestly never wanted to revisit.
I remembered the times I prayed, and God said no. I remembered the times I wondered, “God, what are You doing?”
There were moments when I thought my life was over and hope was gone.
But this song reminded me of something I never want to forget: Thank God, He is a God of second chances. Sometimes you don’t realize how far God has brought you until a song takes you back to where you’ve been.
Then I read some listener comments, and one stopped me in my tracks. It came from a 16-year-old girl who shared that her mom had cancer, her one-year-old nephew had a tumor doctors feared might be cancerous, she had been diagnosed with celiac disease, and she had battled anxiety for the past three years. Then she wrote something that brought me to tears. She said,
“Lord, I’ll keep thanking You no matter what, because I know You are better than anything in this life.”
She said the pain she had endured made her feel stronger. Less afraid. She also said she felt strong enough to overcome because of her Father in Heaven. Then she simply said:
“Jesus, today I thank You for everything in my life—the good times and the bad. I know my life is in Your hands, and I’ll be okay. THANK GOD.”
Wow.
Sixteen years old, reminding a 66-year-old man that sometimes the faith we need isn’t found in understanding what God is doing—it’s found in trusting who God is.
Leanna Crawford, thank you for this song. And if you are walking through a difficult season today, maybe you can’t thank God for the circumstance. But you can thank God that He is with you in it. Thank God for grace. Thank God for another chance. Thank God for hope.
And thank God… He's not finished with your story yet.
