Jesus Gets The Last Word!

We don’t have to look far to see the evidence of what the Bible has already told us would happen. Violence in the streets, confusion about right and wrong, and hearts growing cold toward one another. Jesus Himself warned us: “Because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12).
Paul also said that in the last days people would be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, and disobedient (2 Timothy 3:1–5). Doesn’t that sound like the headlines we read today?
But here’s the good news—God didn’t tell us these things so we would be afraid. He told us so we would be prepared, and so we would keep our eyes fixed on Him. Jesus declared in John 16:33: “In this world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Notice that—He didn’t say “you might” have trouble. He said “you will.” Yet in the same breath He said, take heart! That’s our call as believers today. Not to despair, not to hide, but to stand firm and shine as lights in the darkness.
Think about it: when the world is at its darkest, even the smallest light shines the brightest. That’s you and me. Our courage to keep loving, our willingness to pray, our determination to stand for truth—those things testify that Jesus really is alive and reigning.
So, what do we do when lawlessness abounds? We don’t give up. We don’t lose heart. Instead, we cling to God’s Word, we encourage one another, and we pray with even greater urgency. Because we know the end of the story—Jesus wins.
