New Music Friday: "Good" By Matthew West

It’s Friday, and you know what that means… new music!

Matthew West has long been a steady voice in Christian music, and his song “Good” is no exception. He has a way of putting real life into words… the kind that sounds like honesty finally speaking up.

“I used to think grace was a ladder…” Right there, Matthew names what so many of us believe. That faith is something we climb, earn, prove, and qualify for. Like if we just try harder, do better, fix what’s broken… maybe then we’ll be enough.

But grace doesn’t work like that.

The song leans into the truth we all know too well: we fall, we fail, we repeat. And somehow, we still wonder if we’re disqualified. But God doesn’t respond to our weakness with distance, He responds with faithfulness.

“I’m good at always falling down, you’re good at never giving up. ”That’s the tension we live in… our struggle met by His steady love.

Even Paul wrestled with it in Romans, the gap between what we know and what we do. And right into that struggle comes grace that isn’t earned, only received.

“I’m not loved because I’m worthy / I’m loved because You’re good.”

That changes everything. His love isn’t based on our performance; it’s rooted in His goodness.

Enjoy this beautiful reminder from Matthew West today.
