Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to simply be real with God, with others, and even with ourselves. Leanna Crawford’s new song “Honest” is a beautiful reminder that we don’t have to hide the mess or pretend we’ve got it all together. God invites us to bring our fears, doubts, and struggles into the light because His love is big enough to handle them.
The lyrics open up like a prayer, admitting the weight of carrying unspoken burdens. There’s a line that captures it so well: when we’re honest with God, we find that He’s not pushing us away but instead drawing us closer. His grace isn’t for the polished or the perfect, it’s for the real, raw, and broken parts of who we are.
This song points us back to Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” That’s the heart of God. He’s not shocked by our questions or disappointed in our weakness. He leans in closer when we’re hurting, and His presence meets us right where we are.
“Honest” is a reminder that freedom begins with honesty. We don’t have to carry the pressure of holding it all in. When we open up to God, we make room for Him to comfort, heal, and restore us. And when we’re real with others, it creates space for encouragement, prayer, and community.
So if you’re feeling weighed down today, this song is an invitation. Be honest. Lay it all out before the One who already knows and still chooses to love you. That’s where healing begins.
