Pastor of the Month: Pastor Terry Wright of Grace Fellowship

Every month, it’s a blessing to introduce you to a local pastor and give you an opportunity to learn more about the person behind the pulpit—their heart for ministry, their story, and what God is doing through their church. But this month’s Pastor of the Month is especially meaningful to me because Pastor Terry Wright of Grace Fellowship isn’t just a pastor I’ve had the privilege of getting to know. He’s my pastor, my friend, and my brother in Christ.
I first met Terry shortly after he moved to our area to pastor a local church. I had already heard about him from people in that congregation who were excited about Terry and his family coming to serve there. He stopped by the radio station to introduce himself, learn more about Hope FM, and get acquainted with what we do in our community. Not long after that, on one of the most difficult days of my life, Terry “happened” to walk through the door of the station. I believe God had a reason for that moment. He helped me make sense of what I was walking through and helped me navigate that difficult season in a way I will always be grateful for. It was also the beginning of my journey with the church he was pastoring.
Over the years, Terry became much more than a pastor or shepherd to me. He became a friend and a brother. I’m incredibly thankful for Terry, for his wife Renee’, and their family. Their friendship and their ministry have had a lasting impact on my life, and I’m honored to call Terry my pastor.
I could tell you about his many accomplishments, degrees, titles, and years of ministry experience—and they are certainly worth celebrating. But for me, the titles that mean the most are pastor and friend. Those are the roles in which I’ve seen his heart for people most clearly.
After serving that congregation for several years, Terry stepped away from pastoral ministry for a season. But God wasn’t finished with the calling He had placed on his life. In time, the Lord began leading Terry toward something new: planting another church. And, as only God can do, He provided in a remarkable way.
A local congregation whose numbers had dwindled was facing the reality that their large church campus was being used very little. They made the decision to offer the property to Terry so that a new work could begin. And in the fall of 2014, Grace Fellowship was born.
Grace Fellowship’s story is rooted in a simple but powerful vision: everyone is wanted, not just welcomed.
Located at 2400 St. Johns Avenue, in the former Lemon Heights Baptist Church facility, Grace Fellowship began with a group of servant leaders and a desire to create a place where people could truly belong. The church describes its history this way:
“Grace Fellowship was started in the fall of 2014 with the vision to be a place where everyone is wanted, not just welcomed.”
That vision continues to shape the church today. Grace Fellowship is a non-denominational church that celebrates what God can do with broken lives, believing in His power to make people whole. And after 12 years, it’s exciting to see how God has continued to use Terry, Renee’, and the Grace Fellowship family to reach people in our community.

We’re grateful for pastors like Terry who faithfully serve not only their congregations, but our entire community. And personally, I’m especially grateful that God allowed our paths to cross all those years ago. What began with a pastor walking through the door of a radio station became a friendship and ministry partnership that I treasure.
