Today, I want to introduce you to someone who is much more than just a pastor to me. Pastor Richie Thomas is a close friend, a mentor, and a brother in Christ.

I met Pastor Richie several years ago when my mother lived in Crescent City and he became her pastor. What began as a connection through my mother grew over the years into a friendship that I deeply treasure.
Richie and I have a few things in common. We’re both veterans, we both love the Lord, and we both have a passion for sharing the Word of God. But there is something else I appreciate about him: he is the real deal.
Pastor Richie is what I would call old school—and I mean that as a compliment. He is unwavering and uncompromising when it comes to the Word of God. He preaches from the King James Bible, and he isn't interested in watering down Scripture to make it more comfortable or more politically correct.
His desire isn't to be a pleaser of men. His desire is to be faithful to God.
And that commitment comes from a foundation of sound biblical doctrine. He believes the Word of God is still the Word of God, regardless of what the culture says, and he isn't afraid to stand on it.
But don't let that firmness fool you into thinking he isn't compassionate.
Pastor Richie has a heart for people. He is often found at the bedside of those who are sick, hurting, or struggling. In fact, he came to my bedside when I experienced my stroke. That's the kind of pastor he is. He doesn't just preach about loving people—he shows up.
He's also a gifted songwriter and musician, writing and singing his own music. And for several years, he has faithfully supported the ministry of Hope FM, helping us share the message of hope found in Jesus Christ.
He is also an author who has written several books, using his gifts to encourage people and point them back to the Lord.
And then there is Word of Faith Bible Church in Crescent City.
When you walk through the doors of this church, you can expect a warm welcome from a loving congregation. There is something special about an old-fashioned church family where people know one another, care about one another, and genuinely desire to see people come to know Christ.
You'll hear old-time hymns that provide spiritual blessing through music and worship of the Lord. And you'll hear the Word of God preached without apology.
God has truly blessed this little church. Over the years, they've watched it grow, and they've personally witnessed souls saved, lives changed, and prayers answered.
And right now, the church is working to raise the money needed to replace the roof on their historic church building. It's an opportunity for the community to come alongside this congregation and help preserve a place where the Gospel has been preached and lives have been changed.
Word of Faith Bible Church offers Sunday School for all ages at 10:00 a.m., morning worship at 11:00 a.m., and evening worship at 6:00 p.m. on Sundays. They also meet Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. And for those who cannot—or simply do not—drive at night, they offer a Wednesday morning Bible study at 10:00 a.m.
And if you can't attend in person, their services are streamed online through Facebook.
You can follow the church at Facebook.com/wordoffaithbiblechurchcc.
But more than anything, I want you to know the pastor behind the pulpit. Pastor Richie Thomas is a man who loves God, loves His Word, loves people, and isn't afraid to stand for what he believes.
And I'm honored to call him my friend, my mentor, and my brother in Christ.
Pastor Richie, thank you for being faithful.
And thank you for reminding all of us that in a world that is constantly changing, the Word of God never does.
