Turning the page on the calendar I read this quote: Life is ours to be spent, not saved. Spent on what?
If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. -Isaiah 58:10
Spend yourself.
Makes me think of my grandma. When she'd get a gift, it would be neatly put away and she’d say, “I’m saving it for nice.” But those occasions to wear the new housedress, carry the fancy purse, or use the new tablecloth rarely came. After she passed away there were all these she'd saved for an occasion that rarely, if ever, came still like-new in the closet.
Life and things are created with a purpose—to be used! And as believers in Christ our purpose is to be used for His glory. So how might you spend yourself today?
