Storm in the Mirror, Sunshine Ahead

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"—2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

Driving down the road the other day, I caught a glimpse of something that stopped me—not the road ahead, but the storm behind. The dark clouds were still rumbling in my rearview mirror, but up ahead, the sky was breaking open with sunlight. It felt like a picture of my life with Christ.

There was a time when the storm surrounded me—mistakes, pain, regret, and searching for meaning in all the wrong places. That storm used to be my whole world. But something changed when Jesus stepped in. He didn’t just calm the storm; He gave me a new direction. Now, when I look back, I can still see the storm, but it no longer defines me. It’s in the mirror. It’s behind me.

With every mile forward, the light gets brighter, and peace settles deeper. That’s what it’s like walking with Christ. The past may still echo, but it doesn’t get to steer. God’s grace has not only forgiven what’s behind but is guiding me toward something better—joy, purpose, and freedom.

We don’t have to live in the storm anymore. Look ahead. Let God take the wheel. Let the sunshine remind you: your future in Him is brighter than your past.

Lord Jesus, thank You for delivering me from the storms of my past. Thank You for making me new and giving me a future filled with hope. Help me to keep my eyes on You and the road ahead, not trapped in the rearview of who I used to be. Remind me that You are with me, in every mile and every moment. Amen.

Much Love, Ricky
