The Beauty of Unity

I was beyond blessed to visit Holland during tulip season. I learned the history of the flowers (they weren’t native to Holland!) how they grow the bulbs, and the impact these lovely creations have had on their culture and economy.

While learning was insightful, seeing them in bloom was incredible! Driving through the countryside we saw row upon row of flowers, grown separately by color. Walking through a park that is one of the largest flower gardens in Europe, we were amazed by the beauty with every step.  As I thanked God for the splendor of His creation, I couldn’t help but think there was a correlation between the gardens and our lives.

There were areas where, like the fields, the flowers were planted in displays by color or by type of bloom. It spoke to me of how comforting it is to us when we’re around like-minded people or family, like at church.  There were some displays that had combinations that were so lovely when two or three types or colors were together.  But then…

The truly spectacular were the large areas of every type of flower together. The colors and shapes all in one place made a stunning statement of beauty like I’ve never experienced before.

When we step out of our comfort zones and work together with others, whether in our community or in ministry, we’re better. We bounce off one another, sharing our individual strength and beauty to accomplish so much more together.

Jesus prayed in John 17 that we would experience perfect unity, knowing that would show the world Who He is. Together, we can be a magnificent display that points people to Him!

How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!  Psalm 133:1
