When God Opens a Door Even Wider

There are moments when you look back and realize that what started as one simple conversation has grown into something only God could have orchestrated.

Ten years ago, Hope FM started collecting supplies, then delivering backpacks filled with school supplies to our local elementary schools through what has become an annual School Supply Drive. Each year, our listeners faithfully donate hundreds of backpacks and the supplies that fill them so teachers have resources available for children who come to school without what they need. It's become one of our favorite community outreaches because together, we're helping remove barriers so teachers can teach and children can learn.
As we were unloading supplies in one of those first years, I casually asked a school staff member, "Is there anything else we can do for you?"
Without hesitation, she answered, "We need underwear."
She explained that students have accidents. Some come to school without any because family budgets are stretched thin. After asking other schools if they need it I heard something multiple times that has stayed with me ever since.
Many children come to school wearing "what you can see, but not what you can't see."
That bit of information changed us.
Since then, alongside our annual School Supply Drive, we've made it a priority to provide socks and underwear to every elementary school in Putnam County. Year after year, God has provided through generous listeners who have caught the vision and helped make sure these simple but essential items are available whenever a child needs them.
This year, God did something we never expected.
Hope FM was selected as the recipient of a $5,000 Community Impact Grant from the Rotary Club of Palatka for our Student Essentials Initiative.
We're incredibly thankful—not simply because of the funding, but because of what it represents.
For ten years, you've believed in this ministry. You've donated backpacks. You've given school supplies. You've helped provide socks and underwear for children you'll probably never meet. You've quietly made a difference in countless lives.
Now our community has looked at that same ministry and said, "This matters." The Rotary Club saw the need. They believed in the mission. They invested in it. To us, that's incredibly humbling.
This grant means we can provide even more socks and underwear to our local schools this year, helping more children experience the comfort, confidence, and dignity that come from having these basic necessities available. It also means we can continue asking our listeners to focus their generosity on filling backpacks, knowing this important need has been generously supported.
Most of all, it's another reminder that God has a way of multiplying what we place in His hands.
What began with one simple question—"Is there anything else we can do for you?"—has become a ministry that continues to grow because of God's provision and the faithfulness of people like you.
Thank you for believing in Hope FM. Thank you for believing in our community. And thank you for making a difference in the lives of children across Putnam County.
If you'd like to hear the full story behind the Student Essentials Initiative, we've included the video of our Community Impact Grant presentation below. We'd love for you to watch it and see how God continues to open doors for Hope FM to serve our community in practical ways.
To God be the glory.
