Remember to REST

“He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.” – Psalm 23:2–3
The other day, I snapped a photo of my two dachshund puppies, curled up and sleeping back-to-back. Their bodies curved against each other, completely at peace with the world.

It was more than cute — it was convicting.
In a world that glorifies hustle, constant motion, and “just one more thing before bed,” these two pups reminded me of something sacred: we were created to rest.
Psalm 23 paints a picture of a Shepherd who makes us lie down in green pastures and leads us beside still waters. Not forces — but lovingly guides. Our souls are not machines. They need restoration. And that restoration often begins with stillness.
When was the last time you truly rested? Not just a nap or a night of sleep, but a pause — a moment to exhale and let God hold the weight of your day? For me, it's been too long.
Like those puppies, we were not meant to carry the world on our own. We were made to find peace in proximity to the One who watches over us.
So today, if you need permission to slow down, here it is: Lie down. Breathe deeply. Let Him lead you to still waters. He’s already there, waiting to restore your soul.
Take a moment to reflect on doing that with Leanna Crawford’s "Still Waters."
